In December 2012, six leading Bakken energy companies joined forces for the benefit of the Williston community.
They called themselves Energy Outreach Williston and at the API Banquet this past December, the program was awarded the top philanthropic honor with the Community Service Award.
Made up of StatOil, Halliburton, Schlumberger, Baker Hughes, Oasis Petroleum and Nabors, Energy Outreach has donated to numerous projects across Williston including money for New Public School District No. 8’s playgrounds, the Williston High School auditorium renovation, the Babe Ruth World Series, the Upper Missouri Valley Fair, Aging Meals on Wheels, the Community After School Program, Lead for Literacy and more.
In 2013, the program donated more than $200,000 to projects across the Bakken community.
“They are committed to imparting positive impacts back to the Williston community by deploying financial resources, time and talent and ways that yield tangible and measurable results,” said Travis Kelly of Target Logistics, the 2012 API Community Service Award winner. “By providing financial support, engaging with and serving on local boards and initiating and engaging in volunteer opportunities, Energy Outreach Williston is dedicated to contributing toward meaningful community projects that will benefit Williston and the surrounding communities for years to come.”
The goal of Energy Outreach Williston is to ensure the community that the organization imparts positive impacts back to the community in which we work and live. They are committed to managing our impacts responsibly, and deploying financial resources, time and talent in ways that yield tangible and measurable results.
Kelley Rankin of StatOil accepted the award for the program and said it wouldn’t have been possible if not for all six companies working together for betterment of Williston and the Bakken.
“It’s not just about Statoil, it’s about six companies that have worked very hard,” Rankin said. “One of the hardest things in the oil industry is getting companies to work together. We can’t wait until next year to make a bigger impact in Williston.”
