In a match from Thursday, May 16, No. 4 singles player Rachel Anfinson serves it up during Williston’s 5-4 home victory over Bismarck St. Mary’s.

The Williston Coyotes (8-9) wrapped up their regular season with a flurry of matches this past week, competing four times in a five day span.

After a loss to Minot on Monday, May 13, the Coyotes bounced back to record wins against Bismarck High and St. Mary’s on May 14 and 16. Going for their third win of the week, Williston could not get past Mandan, who defeated the Coyotes, 7-2 at the Williston Area Recreation Center on May 17.

Williston’s Shelby Meyer was the only singles player to record a match win on the afternoon, defeating senior Kenzie Ulrich in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4. In doubles play, the Coyote duo of Ellie Schmit and Rachel Anfinson accounted for Williston’s other match victory of the day, topping Lizzy Allen and Ulrich of Mandan, 6-4, 6-3.

Finishing up fifth place in the WDA West Region, the Coyotes next test will come during the regional tournament, which is slated to begin in Minot on May 23.
