Hunter Haugen of the Williston All-Stars shows his emotions at second base after hitting a game tying two-run double in the sixth inning against the Bismarck Nationals in the Cal Ripken State Tournament on July 10.

On Wednesday, July 10, the Williston 12 and under all-star team lost both of their games in the Cal Ripken State Tournament at Dakota Parks. In the first matchup, they lost to the Bismarck Nationals, 6-3 in seven innings, and were later defeated 12-2 in the second showdown of the day versus West Fargo.

In the first ballgame, Bismarck led 3-0 after five innings of play. However, Williston did not go down without a fight in the bottom of the sixth as Alex Blume hit an RBI single, and then Hunter Haugen followed with a two-run double to tie up the ballgame and send matters into extra innings.

In the seventh, Bismarck posted three runs to once again re-take the lead at 6-3. In the bottom half of the frame, Williston managed to bring the tying run to the plate, but their hopes of a comeback would end there as the Nationals held Williston off the scoreboard to secure the victory.

Meanwhile in the second game, the West Fargo Rattlers took control early with six runs in the first, and four more in the second to eventually close out the game, 12-2 in four innings.
