And the season continues...
The Williston Coyotes softball club was able to qualify for the eighth seed in the WDA West Regional playoffs by virtue of their 14-7 victory over the Watford City Wolves in a home play-in game on Monday, May 20.
It was a highly competitive game as both clubs were knotted at 5-5 after three innings. From that point on, Williston took command as they outscored Watford City 9-2 the rest of the game.
Cleanup hitter Camberly Lerbakken led the Coyotes offensively with three hits in as many at-bats. She also knocked in a pair of RBIs on the evening. Meanwhile, Kaitlynn White also made an impact, driving in four runs and going 2-for-3 at the dish.
All told, Williston collected 15 hits in the game, and pitcher Alexis Renner recorded the win for the Coyotes, going all seven innings and allowed five earned runs while striking out six.
Williston’s next game will take place in Dickinson on Thursday, May 23. Their opponent will be determined at a later date.
