Donna (Mathews) Rockney was born on March 6, 1938 to Gene and Dora (Anderson) Mathews in Minneapolis, MN.  The family lived in Minneapolis until she turned eight, then they moved to Bremen, Germany where her father was stationed in the United States Army.  In 1948 her family moved to Williston, where Donna lived the rest of her life.

Donna attended school in Williston, graduating from High School in the class of 1956.  She went on to Greeley Colorado and attended college for a short time. She returned back to Williston to marry her High School sweetheart, and the love of her life.  On July 26, 1957 Donna was united in marriage to Dennis Rockney. The couple lived in France while Dennis served in the United States Army from 1957 – 1959. Their first son, Dennis Jr. was born while they were living in France.  Upon discharge from the service, they returned back to Williston, where they settled into their home and lived there remaining years together, raising their children, Dennis Jr., Darryl and Darla. They also helped in raising their grandson, Dustin Rockney, whose mother passed away when he was three years old.

Donna worked various jobs.  She worked at an Insurance Company, GTA, and First Lutheran Church.  In 1978 Donna went to work for the Williston Public School District #1.  She worked at Lewis and Clark as the School secretary until her retirement in the year 2000.  She loved her position at Lewis and Clark because she had contact with the children and knew and loved many of them through the years that she worked there.

She taught Sunday school for several years when her children were young.  Donna loved being with family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed her many friends that she visited with over the years.  She enjoyed entertaining and having gatherings with her Birthday club friends. Donna enjoyed music, movies, reading, walking and traveling, especially to see her children and grandchildren.  She loved the many dogs that lived with her over the years, and went for many walks with them, especially Bandit.

Donna is survived by her husband of sixty one years, Dennis Rockney; their children, Dennis (Erika) Rockney of Portland, OR, Darryl Rockney of Williston, ND and Darla (David) Kloek of Coon Rapids, MN; five grandchildren, Dustin Rockney, Meena Rockney, Stormy Rockney, and Danielle and Dakotah Kloek; three great-grandsons, Tripp Rockney, Karter Rice and Nixon Brigham; a great-granddaughter, Bostyn Brigham, and many nieces and nephews.
