Nemo, SD | Diane Brakken, 75, passed away January 18, 2018, at her home in Nemo.
Diane was born in Williston, ND on January 7, 1943 to Vernon and Jennie (Rockstad) Pellet. Jennie later married Virgil Stedman and Diane thought of him as her father.
She attended grade school, high school, and college in the Williston area. Diane married Rod Brakken in Williston on June 7, 1976. To this union one son, Rick was born.
Diane loved sports, especially the Minnesota Vikings. She was an avid bowler, loved softball, and she was an excellent trap shooter.
For many years she worked at the Williston Cooperative Credit Union and she was also a cook for many years at the Stoney Creek Rural School, Williston High School, and UND-Williston. When she retired from cooking she was working at the Head Start in Williston.
Diane lived in Williston from birth until she and her husband moved to Nemo in the Black Hills of South Dakota in January of 2012. She resided in the Black Hills until the time of her passing.
In death she leaves behind her husband, Rod, Nemo; son, Rick, Nemo; sister, Judy Holm, Williston; nephews, Toby Holm, Williston, and Casey ( Jessica) Holm , Phoenix, AZ, and their son, Manning.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Jennie Stedman; step-father, Virgil Stedman; and father, Vernon Pellet.
A Celebration of Life will take place at 2 pm, Saturday, June 16, 2018 at her home, 12633 Caroline Place in Nemo, SD with Pastor Ron McLaughlin officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in the Nemo Cemetery.
