Bakken Area SKills Center Update

Mockup of BASC

There has been a workforce shortage problem in the Watford City area, and the Bakken Area Skill Center (BASC) was a $20 million project created by McKenzie County Public School District #1 to address it. The goal is to provide hands-on technical training for high school students, post-secondary education, and in-demand skills training for regional employers.

“What really gave the BASC the boost was last year when Governor Burgum set up the $10 million grant in matching grants,” McKenzie County Economic Development Coordinator Daniel Stenberg said. “That grant really propelled us to be able to take it to the next level.”
