Two brine spills were reported to the North Dakota Oil and Gas Division this week.
Scout Energy Partners reported Tuesday, June 4, that 800 barrels of brine were released due to a valve/piping connection leak at the Fossum B 2R Water Injection Plant, about four miles northwest of Maxbass. Clean up is underway.
Missouri Basin Well Service Inc. reported Wednesday, June 5 that 3,407 barrels of brine were released due to a fire caused by lightning strike at the Hydro Clear SWD 1, located about 16 miles northeast of Alexander. Cleanup will begin once all hot spots are eliminated.
North Dakota Oil and Gas inspectors have been to both locations and will monitor cleanup progress.
