A 45-year-old Williston man is facing two felony charges after police say he threatened a woman on Sunday night and tried to run her over with his SUV.
Jason Hartwig was charged Tuesday with terrorizing and reckless endangerment, both class C felonies.
Hartwig was driving with a woman on Sunday night when he told her “Buckle up because this is your last ride,” according to an affidavit of probable cause filed in Northwest District Court. The woman told police he started driving erratically and that when he stopped the SUV they were in, she got out and walked toward Riverview Cemetery.
A witness told police he saw Hartwig drive into the cemetery after the woman, yelling,l “I will kill you!” and then accelerate toward the woman as she was walking on the grass, court records state. The woman also told police that Harwig had tried to run over her, and an officer found tire marks in the grass.
Hartwig is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing on the charges on Aug. 16.
