The two school districts that serve Williston are moving forward with a collaboration by asking residents of both districts what they want to see.
Williston Public School District No. 1 and Williams County Public School District No. 8 on Friday launched an online survey through ThoughtExchange, a website District 1 previously used to ask residents about their thoughts on a March bond referendum that failed. The survey launched at noon and is available online at https://my.thoughtexchange.com/#765787583.
In the introduction, the districts offered a summary of the goal of the survey.
“District 1 and District 8 are interested in working together as two independent districts to address our community's growing enrollment,” the site reads. “We believe that it is in the best interest of the Williston community to discuss and coordinate our future building plans, to support each other's bond referendums, and to work together to explore additional funding opportunities through the legislative process.”
The question put to residents is: “What are the most important perspectives for us to consider as our districts collectively explore strategies to address our growing enrollments?”
By 4 p.m. Friday, more than 200 people had participated in the survey and more than 160 comments had been left.
The survey will be open through Oct. 21.
