FREE A/C.  It’ll be noticeably cooler as the weekend system moves out and northwest winds come in behind it.  We cover what’s to come, pronghorn counting and what’s new with the NDWF in today’s Outdoors Roundup.

Featured Photo: Happy(?) Birthday!  A fixture in the DEO Office and on many formative hunts (and subsequent articles), Gunnar the lab turns 15 years old today.  Here, G is pictured on his final PF mentor hunt, prior to retirement at age 12. Simonson Photo.

OUTDOORS ROUNDUP:

FLICK IT.  Check out this season’s installment of the NDWF Flickertales Newsletter, one of the longest-running conservation publications in the state.  With a revamped website and new Executive Director, the organization is pushing for access, recruitment and conservation in 2019.

‘HORN COUNT.  The NDG&F will begin its survey of the state’s pronghorn population in mid-June and gauge the status of the growing herds rebounding from recent harsh winters.  Last season’s buck-to-doe ratio of 45-to-100 was above the goal levels set by the agency.

TEMPERATE.  Things are looking mild and windy for much of the upcoming week, with highs in the upper 60s and low 70s.  Things appear to be calming down and stabilizing into the weekend, just in time for the ND CTL State Tournament.
