Police are investigating after an anonymous threat was received at Williston High School Wednesday, Sept. 29.

“Administration immediately took the necessary precautions to ensure the safety of students, staff, and anyone present in the building and has been working closely with the Williston Police Department who are onsite,” Williston Basin School District No. 007 superintendent Jeffrey Thake wrote. “Please be assured that administration and the Williston PD are working together, have ensured that the high school is safe, and are continuing to thoroughly investigate the threat.”

The threat came in shortly before noon, according to Sgt. Detective Danielle Hendricks of the Williston police.

“The threat specifically said a ‘shooting’ would happen at noon,” Hendricks wrote. “The Williston Police Department responded to the school and investigated the threat, which did not come to fruition, and no evidence was found that would lead police to believe an actual shooting would occur. Williston High School never was closed or evacuated during this incident and the Williston Police Department will continue to investigate this passed threat.”
