Police at the scene of a shooting at Renaissance Heights Apartment Complex in Williston on Tuesday afternoon.

WILLISTON — Two men were found dead in an apartment complex Tuesday, as police responded to multiple 9-1-1 calls that came in at approximately 11:20 a.m. from the Renaissance Heights apartment complex in Williston.

Upon arriving, police found the deceased individuals and detained a man and a woman who inhabited the apartment. Police said they were being questioned.

Police also said they do not believe there is a gunman on the loose, and there is no danger to the public.

At around 1 p.m., a crime scene vehicle from the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation, arrived. Police continued to interview witnesses and police said they were not sure whether the man and woman who lived in the apartment knew the two men.

At 1:30 p.m., police said there were three guns found at the scene and they were unsure whether they belonged to the victims or the people who lived in the apartment.

At 1:38 p.m., police said the victims were from out of state, and that they did not suspect that the shooting was the result of a home invasion.

Police said that between 9 and 16 shots were believed to have been fired.
