TRENTON — With just more than three minutes remaining in the game Trenton-Trinity Christian and Beach had combined for 18 points. A minute later, 24 more points had been scored.

The Tigers trailed Beach 12-6 when they took possession of the ball with less than 10 minutes remaining. Following a six and half minute drive, the Tigers plunged in to the end zone on a 1-yard run.

They converted the two-point conversion to take the lead 14-12 with 3:08 remaining. Just 40 seconds later the Tigers trailed 28-14 and would go on to lose by that score, making them 0-3 on the season.

Following the successful two-point conversion, Beach returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown. The Buccaneers converted the two-point conversion. They then intercepted a Seth Zimmerman pass on the Tigers first play and running back Jake Hardy took off for a 49-yard touchdown on the next play.

Another converted two-point attempt got the score to 28-14.

On the kickoff return for a touchdown, the Tigers had a chance to make the stop but failed to.

"We missed some tackles on the return and they took one to the house and that is the way it went," coach Randy St. Pierre said.

The Tigers were at a disadvantage from the start of the game. A very strong wind forced the team to go away from its passing game that resulted in three touchdowns the week before.

The Tigers were also put at a disadvantage by a missed call. The Tigers led 6-0 in the second quarter when Buccaneers quarterback James Kary connected with Lloyd Weinreis for a 14-yard touchdown. Problem is Kary was clearly a yard or two past the line of scrimmage when he made the pass meaning the touchdown should not have been allowed. The touchdown stood and while St. Pierre had some words for the referees at the time, he declined comment after the game.

"I'm not going to comment on that one," he said. "Mistakes happen and that is the way it goes."
