Justin Blom, 37, of Lignite passed away Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, due to injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident near Lignite.
Justin Dean Blom, the son of Donald and Marsha (Springsted) Blom, was born Sept. 25, 1976, in Tioga. He was raised in Lignite and graduated from Burke Central High School in 1995. While in high school, he played football and basketball and assisted his father with the operation of the family farm.
Following his high school graduation, he started his own repair shop, Justin’s Repair. He also worked with custom grain and gravel hauling, oil field services and backhoe services.
On Feb. 4, 1998, his first pride and joy, Brook, was born. On May 24, 2001, his mini-me, Mia, was born.
He was a member of the Lignite Church of God and the Lignite Fire Department, where he served as fire chief. He was also a driver for the Portal Ambulance Service and was the president of the Local Emergency Planning Committee.
To those who knew Justin, he was like an M & M. He had a tough exterior but had a heart of gold. He had his grandfather’s work ethic and loved building his business. He was a man of integrity and if you were his friend, you were a good friend. There was no brighter light in his life than his daughters, Brook and Mia. He never missed their activities and ball games. He loved them to the moon and back.
Any spare minute he had was spent with the fire department. He loved the camaraderie with the Lignite Volunteer Fire Department. Justin was always willing to pitch in to better the community. There was never a question that Justin didn’t have the answer to nor was there anything he couldn’t fix. He was always willing to help whether it be moving snow, towing a car or sweeping the floor in the fire hall.
He loved racing. He started racing when he was a freshman in high school and continued until the time of his death. He loved to camp, fish, ride his Harley, ride snowmobiles and spend time with his girls and fiancée.
Heaven gained an amazing father, son, brother, grandson, nephew, friend, fire chief, handy man, and race car driver.
Surviving family includes his daughters, Brook (15) and Mia (12); mother, Marsha Larson, Williston; sisters, Kayla (Josh) Dascher, Rochester, Minn. and Megan (Matt) Kihle, Lignite;
