A 35-year-old Williston man was killed in a two-vehicle accident late Sunday afternoon.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Franklin A. Mundo was killed in the accident near Arnegard.

The highway patrol reports Mundo was driving a 1998 Ford Taurus east on Highway 85 in windy, icy and snowy conditions. At the same time Lyle Sasse of Vancouver, Wash. was driving a 2011 Ford 3/4 ton pickup west on Highway 85, heading into Arnegard.

As Mundo moved up to speed, he lost control of the car and slid sideways into the westbound traffic. The pickup truck was unable to stop and struck the Taurus on the passenger side.

The impact was significant and caused heavy damage to both vehicles. Mundo was killed due to injuries he sustained in the crash. Sasse received minor injuries and was not taken to the hospital.

The McKenzie County Ambulance assisted at the scene.
