A 19-year-old man accused of ramming MonDak Motorsports with his vehicle was arrested after he attempted to report the car, which had been seized by police, as stolen.
Calum Kinstler allegedly rammed his vehicle repeatedly into the glass entry doors at MonDak Motorsports at about 11 p.m. Thursday, Detective David Peterson said. A witness followed him and gave updates to officers, leading to a short pursuit in the vehicle until Kinstler abandoned it and fled on foot.
Officers seized the maroon station wagon, Peterson said. The next day, Kinstler came into the law enforcement center to report the vehicle stolen, at which point he was arrested.
Kinstler is facing charges of attempted burglary, criminal mischief, fleeing or attempting to elude police, false reports to law enforcement for attempting to report the vehicle stolen and carrying a concealed or dangerous weapon in a vehicle, which officers found after executing a search warrant on the car.
An investigation is ongoing to determine if Kinstler was also involved in a similar incident at Ryan Motors when suspects crashed a vehicle into the business and drove out with a $50,000 Dodge Challenger at about 11 p.m. Wednesday.
