On its way towards Montana, Amtrak's Empire Builder passenger train slammed into a semitrailer hauling water Wednesday.
No one on the train was hurt in the 11:30 a.m. crash that occurred along North Dakota Highway 1804 south of Trenton.
The driver of the truck, 49-year-old Gregory Forseth of Mound, Minn., was injured, according to a report from the North Dakota Highway Patrol. The 2007 Peterbilt he was driving was mainly damaged in the truck's rear end and trailer tank.
Forseth had pulled across a marked train crossing when he was struck by the train. He was transported to Mercy Medical Center for undisclosed injuries, according to the Highway Patrol.
It was the second train vs. truck accident in as many days in the Williston area.
On Tuesday, a semitrailer was struck by a BNSF freight train when the driver of the truck tried to pull across the tracks at a crossing northeast of Williston.
That truck was also hauling water.
