The Williston Lady Coyotes held off Dickinson 76-71 Thursday night in a wild and entertaining WDA basketball game at Phil Jackson Fieldhouse.

The Lady Coyotes seemed to have the game in control and on their way to an easy win until the growing pains set in. In the final three minutes, Dickinson used a 10-2 run to trim an 11-point deficit to 74-71, and had the chance to tie the game after a Williston turnover.

However, the Lady Midgets were called for an offensive foul and Jaclyn Lee calmly hit a pair of free throws to give Williston the win.

"That's that inexperience," said Williston girls coach Darryl LaDue of the final minutes of the contest. "They're getting stronger. The girls are getting this game down."

Williston was in trouble in the first half as Dickinson used a 12-0 run to build a 31-21 lead. However, the Lady Coyotes continued to fight their way back. "It never slips away," LaDue said about his team being in trouble in the first half. "Because they don't know how to quick. They keep coming at you."

A 3-pointer by Lee at the buzzer trimmed Dickinson's lead to 37-33 at the break.

The momentum from Lee's 3-pointer carried over into the second half, as the Lady Coyotes knocked down six from long distance in the final 18 minutes.

Back-to-back 3-pointers by Kinsi Olson and Dani Clarke gave Williston the lead for good at 43-41.

Olson and Lee each finished with 17 points to pace Williston. Clarke added 14 on 4 of 9 shooting from behind the 3-point arc. Miranda Zavalney also chipped in with 12 points in the win.
