Shirley M. Thompson was born July 31, 1933, in Noonan, daughter to Lloyd and Mae (Gunderson) Thompson. She attended Noonan School.

She worked waitressing in Noonan, where she met Robert A. Burner. They married on Sept. 10, 1950. Robert farmed in the Noonan area, where they continued to live and raise their five children. Shirley was a homemaker, enjoyed baking, sewing and bowling. Shirley continued to work after her husband, Robert, passed away in 1982. She retired on Aug. 28, 1992.

After her retirement, she met Bernie Moberg from Estevan, Sask., Canada. They enjoyed each other’s companionship and often went camping and they both loved dancing. He passed away Sept. 5, 2006.

She always enjoyed the company of family and friends, was always looking out for those in need and had an open heart and would help whenever she could.

The company of her grandchildren brought her joy and after her husband passed away she was given the gift of “Mitzy,” her true companion she loved very dearly.

In 2008, she moved to Minot to the Brentmoor Assisted Living to be closer to family and shared the last couple of years there with her sister, Donna, who recently passed away on Dec. 30, 2009.
