Gary Clark, principal of West Fargo High School, and Marcia Armogost, principal of Williston Middle School, recently met with Senator Dorgan in his Washington, D.C. office to discuss education in North Dakota. Clark was recently honored as North Dakota High School Principal of the Year, and Armogost was honored as North Dakota State Middle Level Principal of the Year.

Principals have difficult jobs that require them to wear many hats at once. They have to be teachers, businessmen and women, disciplinarians, community builders and policy experts all rolled into one. Principals work extremely hard to create strong learning environments to educate our next generation of North Dakota leaders.

Inspired by the hard work of Mr. Clark and Ms. Armogost, Senator Dorgan introduced a resolution in the United States Senate honoring the contributions of our nation’s school principals by recognizing October 2009 as National Principals Month.

The Senate resolution recognizes principals for being education visionaries and community builders, and for establishing curriculum that maintains high educational standards. It honors the critical role that principals play in education. So while you’re swinging by school to pick up your kids or see your local principal around town, please take a moment to thank them for all their hard work. Our schools are our most important investment in the future of our children, and principals are the foundations of those schools.

Congratulations to Jim Evanson, the winner of the Monday Night Football Pool.
