Three Williston teens were injured Tuesday night in a single-vehicle rollover accident outside the city.

A press release from the North Dakota Highway Patrol stated that the accident took place at 9:15 p.m. on 56th Street Northwest, about four miles northeast of Williston.

The accident occurred while Taylor Laducer, 14, was traveling westbound on 56th Street Northwest in a 1999 Chevy Blazer.

Laducer drifted off the roadway into a soft gravel ridge on the edge of the roadway. He struck a small hard build up of gravel and dirt and swerved to the left. Trying to correct himself he then swerved to the right and then to the left again; at this point the overturned. It came to rest upright, facing north.

Laducer was transported by the Williston Ambulance to Mercy Medical Center for injuries. His two passengers, Reid Halvorson, 15, and Trey White Cloud, 14, were also transported to Mercy. Laducer's vehicle was totaled in the accident and was towed. He was cited for care required.

The Williams County Sheriff's Department and Williston Fire Department also responded to the accident.

" As an adult in the Williston area I am always shocked by how people react to situations. I got my licence at 14, in this state. I have a flawless driving record. I drive 250+ miles a day for my job, mostly on Williams County gravel roads. Numerous times I have almost rolled my pickup due to the condition of these roads. I have experience under my belt and know these roads which has kept me rubber side down, but I can see how someone, even undistracted would get into this situation. Don't be so hard on anyone who ends up in a bad situation. "

But even turning up the radio may distract a driver or anything else for that matter. Same goes for an experienced driver. "

" To totally - I am sorry, but if someone is writing a letter and they expect to be taken seriously, they should not write like they are texting on their phone. I have a right to prefer real words. I do not really think I am that out of line. Did you read my post. I think that inexperienced drivers should not be able to have other young adults in the car. It is a distraction. Did I say all adults are good drivers? No, I did not. It is just that inexperienced drivers can become distracted more easily. I never once said blame the parents or that he was irresponsible. Inexperience does not make someone a bad person. It can lead to more mistakes than someone with experience. "

" THERE IS NO ONE TO BLAME! Any person who has their license, whether it be for 3 days or 30 years is vulnerable as to get into any sort of accident. If any of you have been in a car accident, you would know that experience has nothing to do with it when you are heading for a ditch or another vehicle! Its the reaction you have at that time. Perhaps you should all just go worry about your own kids and teach them how to be "experienced". "

My god we should just all be happy and thankful that they are alive and here for us to enjoy. Other than making a horrible accident a Blame Game.
And I probably spelled that wrong also it doesnt make me a bad person.. "Distrought" LOL..

" If they had the law of getting your license at 14 when you were growing up, you would all have a different outlook on this whole ordeal. Same with texting and cell phones. The way the parents raise their kids has nothing to do with it. A person at any age could get into an accident. So when a 40 year old rolls his vehicle, going to an event, it is ok to blame his parents? I see how it is.. "

" you know when people are talking about my family i could care less how i type. or how i spell. and just to know i wasnt talking about his age. the people that are bashing my parents saying that they arent being resposible is ridiculous. its none of your concern what i was saying. Its to them not you. and our family has no problem with people talking about the age he is and driving. its the people that are saying its the parents fault and that they arent doing a good job. thats dumb. so you can just stay out of this. its my family and if they are gonna be talking about my family like that i will be there to stick up for it. so please just leave me and my family alone. and i making fun of me as well as my brother just cuz im a senior and didnt type all the words right doesnt really matter what it has to do on the subject. imake mistakes. and i cud care less. im doing great in school. so you can stop with that as well. and all of you can just leave my little brother alone. we get the fact he is young. but wether you thirty or fourteen and just start driving your still gonna be inexperienced. so it really doesnt matter. I know it's hard not to judge other's...I'm guilty of it. I believe the people that write comments on this such news, are people that are concerned. I also believe that a lot of it is taken out of context. If you feel the need to express your concern do so in an appropriate way? I know the Williston Herald doesn't write the complete story on anything...and if they did the paper would be a book...everyone feels they have to know everything about the history of any of the drama stories. It's okay...breathe...relax...I'm not trying to offend anyone. If we, the people of Williston, are going to end the madness of gossip/drama than it should start with us? "

" To the senior in high school. I think that maybe you should learn to spell before you try to argue on this subject. Also, people are not necessarily saying this kid is not a good kid, but in inexperienced. Having other young adolescents in the vehicle can be distracting. I think for the safety of others, they should not be allowed to drive with other teenagers in the vehicle with them. This kid may have been a responsible driver, but I have seen many others that drive irresponsibly down 2nd Ave that have almost caused or have caused accidents. I think that driving at those ages need to be restricted for work and school only with no other teenagers in the car. "

" From what I've seen with Taylor, he IS a responsible 14 year old. Yes, he is young but he has never been in serious trouble before. He goes to school and also has a job. His parents do not just let him go wherever he wants whenever he wants. He and his sister have to earn their parents' trust before they go places. They also have to be home before the regular curfew. It's not like he wanted to be in an accident. I'm sure he feels terrible that his friends are hurt. "

" If any of you read the Bismarck Tribune, on Halloween night, an SUV with five 14 and 15 year olds rolled SE of Bismarck. One girl was killed, two are in the hospital. The kids may be responsible, however, inexperience, distractions and not wearing a seat belt are three huge factors everyone needs to think about. You all need to think this thought when you get behind the wheel of anything. You are driving a weapon. You could kill yourself or someone else. You need to eliminate all distractions, wear your seatbelt, and drive according to weather and road conditions. "

Trisha wrote on Nov 19, 2009 9:20 AM:

" I received my license when I was 14 years old and there was no restrictions on it so something must have changed. We lived in the country and it was almost necessary for me to have it. Also Brenda, how do we know they let their kid "Joy ride" could it be possible that they wee on their way home from a game or movie? The article is way to short to be judging someone elses parenting skills. I am sure they will place enough blame on themselves without you doing it for them. "

Friend of Taylors Family wrote on Nov 19, 2009 8:06 AM:

" First of all Taylor was NOT joy riding. He was on his way to a church outing! It was not a school night either. His parents ARE responsible and did take responsiblitly for their son!! They were at the hospital with all the kids. Taylor IS a responsible person and therefor allowed to get his license. There are ADULTS that are irresponsible who drive around JOY RIDING and DRINKING who should never have gotten their licence in the first place. So if you have anything to say about this child maybe you should know him and his family better, or at all
    BEFORE you judge. "

" Well according to the DOT website it says: The minimum driving age in North Dakota is 16. You may not drive in North Dakota if you are under 16, even if you are licensed in another state. However, a North Dakota resident can obtain a restricted license at the age of 14. A parent or legal guardian must sign for a minor under the age of 18 to be issued a permit or license.

My kid wasn't even allowed his permit until he was 16 and we made him drive a year and follow an insurance safety course before he got his license 2 weeks before his 17th birthday. I'm sorry 14 y.o. is MUCH to young. "
