The Tetons will host the annual Mon-Dak tournament this weekend in Williston.
Williston State is hosting both tournaments for the second straight year. The Mon-Dak tournament consists of Division I and Division II junior colleges from North Dakota and Montana.
"We're the only school that can do it," said Williston State College athletic director and men's head basketball coach. "It's hectic."
On the men's side, Williston will be the No. 5 seed and will host Bismarck State on Thursday at 8 p.m. "They play very uptempo," Berg said of Thursday's opponent. "They shoot it from anywhere on the court. They're a tough team to play against."
On the women's side, Williston State will be the No. 2 seed and will face United Tribes at on Thursday at 6 p.m.
Thursday's contest will be a matchup between the Lady Tetons and former Williston State player Kristin Bearstail. Bearstail transferred to United Tribes during the offseason to be closer to family.
The seedings for the tournament will are based on the regular-season from last season. And while the seedings may seem to be a little misleading about the makeup of this season's teams, Berg says it is the only possible way.
"There's no other way to do it," he said.
In order for the Teton to have success, Berg says his team needs to pick up its level of play.
"Guys five through 10 need to perform better," he said. "And guys one through four need to play more consistent."
On the women' side, Williston State will need to shoot the ball better. The Lady Tetons shoot below 30 percent in two losses last weekend in Wyoming. Williston State hit on only 8 of 32 attempts from behind the 3-point arch.
In addition to all of the game action, there will also be a three-point shooting contest and a slam dunk contest Friday evening before the final game.
Williston State will play the final two games of the evening all three nights.
"This gives everybody three games," Berg said.
