After a week’s worth of do-or- die situations for the state’s Class B volleyball teams, those teams able to make the first cut are gearing up for another round must win situations.

The Region 8 tournament is set to open Monday afternoon with teams from District 15 and 16 vying for a spot in the state tournament to be held later this month.

"It's now do or die time," said Ray High School volleyball coach Michelle Dolan, following her team’s win over Divide County in the championship match of the District 16 tournament on Thursday. "We better be prepare for everyone. If you get to the (regional meet), you are doing something right."

The tournament will open with a match between Stanley, Distict 15’s top seed, and Tioga.

One of the more intriguing matches of the opening day comes immediately following the Stanley/Tioga match as Divide County will face Trinity Christian. In the other half of the bracket, the Ray Jays will take on Parshall, the No. 4 seed from District 15.

Monday’s action will conclude with a match between Watford City and Burke County.

The four winners will play in the semifinals on Tuesday, while the championship match will be Thursday.

The state tournament will be Nov. 19-21 in Minot.
