The Dakota Diabetes Coalition’s annual Diabetes Summit was held in October on the campus of Bismarck’s United Tribes Technical College, which co-sponsored the event.

Karen Liepke, of Williston’s Trinity Community Clinic, participated in the conference.

She took part in a panel discussion of diabetes managers highlighting current issues in diabetes treatment and prevention.

The coalition has more than 100 members across North Dakota. The day-long gathering brought together people with a variety of backgrounds from around the state.

The theme of this year’s Summit was “What Works in Diabetes.” Summit attendees discussed which issues are most important and the best ways to gain traction against North Dakota’s diabetes epidemic.
