The Crusaders were up 23-16 in the second game, looking poised to tie the match at one and roll into the third game. But Watford City came flying back to win 10 of the next 11 points, taking the game 26-24 and deflating Trinity Christian.
The Wolves carried that momentum easily into the third game, and won the match 25-16, 26-24, 25-9.
"I think that kind of everything fell apart," said coach Beth Zarling. "For some reason, when something starts falling apart, everything kind of falls apart and it's hard to get back into it."
Karson Pederson led the way for Watford City with nine kills and nine aces, each team highs, to go along with five digs and a block. Marti Quale led the Wolves with 16 assists and six digs. No. 2 Watford City will advance to play top-seeded Stanley in Thursday night's district championship game. Both teams in the finals have already earned a spot in the regional tournament next week in Tioga.
Trinity Christian will now have one more chance to earn a spot, in the regional play-in game on Thursday against New Town.
"We'll be playing New Town, which we've played throughout the season, so we'll be hoping for a win.
