Stanley makes short work of Trenton By Kyle Mayhugh/Williston HeraldTrenton put up a second-game fight, but the hosting Stanley Blue Jays won 3-0 on Tuesday night to advance to the District 15 championship. Top-seeded Stanley's 25-9, 25-20, 25-10 victory sends them into Thursday's final to face Watford City. "I think we played okay," said Stanley coach Pappa. "We could have had a little more energy, but I thought overall they played real well together." Stanley's front-row hitting power was in evidence all game. Stanley finished the first game on a 14-3 run, and then won the second game despite Trenton hanging around as close as 23-19 late. Chai Pappa helped the Blue Jays pull away in the third game with an impressive service run. The eighth-grader came in with a full jump serve and aced four of five points in quick succession. The loss leaves No. 4 Trenton in a regional play-in game on Thursday against No. 6 Parshall. "If they play hard like this tomorrow, I don't have any doubt that they'll pull out a win," said Trenton coach Jean Turcotte. "They looked good." Stanley's Brooke Meyer led the team with eight kills, and ReeAnn Mehus had 13 assists and four digs.
