In conjunction with the opening of the 2009-10 basketball season, Williston State College will hold its inaugural Hall of Fame banquet on Saturday evening at the Elks Lodge in Williston.

The banquet will honor the class of 14 members to be inducted into the Teton Athletic Hall of Fame.

The establishment of a Hall of Fame has been something in the works for quite some time.

“For almost 45 years, our college’s athletics program has accomplished great things. I had no idea the number of sports we have competed in or the amount of success we have had,” said WSC athletics director Hunter Berg. “This Hall of Fame project has been a fun one to me. I’m very proud and amazed at what the inductees were able to accomplish. And I’m just as excited in looking to the annual selection of new inductees.”

The 2009 class will include teams, coaches and players from past Williston State College athletic teams. Teams

The 1967 volley team, which was the first team in school history to qualify for the national tournament will be one of four teams to be inducted. The other teams to be honored are: The 1976-77 women's basketball team, which qualified for a national tournament; the 1978-79 women's basketball team, which finished third at a national tournament; and the 1998-99 men's basketball team, which was the first men's basketball team to make the final 16 National Tournament.

Coaches
