The Demons opened the contest with a pair of touchdowns in the first two minutes en route to a 63-0 win over the Coyotes.
Bismarck’s Esley Thorton scored on runs of 11 and 23 yards before the Coyotes even took an offensive snap.
And once Williston did get the ball, things went from bad to worse as senior quarterback Alez Hanson suffered a concussion on the Coyotes’ opening possession. He did not return to the game.
Thorton also capped off the opening quarter with a pair of touchdown passes to Carson Winkels and Calvin Krueger. The scoring plays came on passes of 40 and 34 yards, respectively. Jake Miller and Channing Mann added touchdown runs of 10 and 50 yards in the second quarter. Mann added a 3-yard scoring run in the third quarter.
Bismarck had accumulated 400 yards of total offense through the first half of play in Saturday’s contest. Thorton completed 6 of 8 passes for 160 yards in one quarter of play for the Demons. He also rushed for 78 yards.
For Williston, Marcus Fearing, playing in place of Hanson. completed 7 of 12 passes for 63 yards. Kaleb Barstad also rushed for 68 yards in the loss.
Williston will play at Dickinson on Friday at 8 p.m. The Coyotes will also close out the season against Minot on Oct. 21.
