Verne Tveten was born on Sept. 21, 1922, to Erik and Caroline (Hagen) Tveten on a farm northwest of Hanks, North Dakota. He was raised and educated in area schools, graduating from Hanks High School in 1940. After graduation, he and his mother moved to their farm in Fertile Valley Township northeast of Grenora and he began farming the land and raising cattle. His Charolais cattle became his trademark. He continued to do so until his retirement and continued to live on the farm raising gardens and fruit trees.
He had several hobbies that included woodworking, leather crafting, rock collecting and reading. Verne was a quiet man and was well-respected in the community.
Verne is survived by several nephews and nieces, Marlo (Gloria) Blomberg, David (Dorothy) Blomberg, Delores (Tony) Hendrickson, all of Williston, Wallace (Carol) Blomberg, Fargo, Jim (Connie) Blomberg, Minot, Allen (Mary) Blomberg, Leonard (Faye) Laqua, both of Fargo, Darlene (Frank) Phillips, Orondo, Wash., and Ronald Laqua, Halstad, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Lillian Tveten Blomberg and Esther Tveten Laqua; and niece, Carolle Blomberg Bartsch. Friends may call at the Fulkerson Funeral Home, Williston on Sunday, Oct. 11 from 1-5 p.m. and an hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
