The press release states Goebel is leaving after two years, "to allow him to give his full attention to finding a career opportunity that will better serve his interests and help him advance his personal career objectives."
The release continues in stating Goebel’s resignation was accepted by Catholic Health Initiatives, which is based in Denver.
“We respect Dennis’s decision and appreciate his work to the hospital and the community,” the release quotes Jeffrey Drop, CHI senior vice president of the North Dakota/Minnesota. “Under Dennis’s leadership Mercy Medical Center has contributed to our mission in a very challenging and complex health care environment, we wish him success in his future endeavors.”
The release states during this transition period, Mercy chief financial officer Kerry Monson is assuming the role of interim CEO. The Mercy hospital board and CHI leadership will work closely with Monson to develop a transition plan that ensures continuity and continuation of Mercy’s mission to the community.
