James Edward Krimm, 42, walked into the American State Bank north branch at 4:55 p.m. on Monday and demanded money from tellers at gunpoint. Krimm's name was released shortly before 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday by Det. Lt. Mark Hanson of the Williston Police Department.
Krimm left the bank Monday with an undisclosed amount of money and led law enforcement from several agencies on a chase throughout parts of eastern Montana and back into North Dakota. The chase ended in Divide County, when law enforcement said Krimm took his own life with a single gunshot to the head as he was cornered in a field outside Fortuna.
Hanson is not yet able to release the amount of money stolen by Krimm. Further investigation needs to be done before the department reveals that information, said Hanson.
