Jerilyn A. Baker, 59, Minot, died on Friday, Sept. 11, 2009, in a Mandan hospital.

Jerilyn was born on Sept. 20, 1949, Watford City, the daughter of Lenn and Shirley A. (Judkins) Elton.  She was reared in the New Town area and attended school in New Town. Upon graduation, she lived in various areas of the U.S. In 1976, she moved to Watford City and later to Williston, Westhope, Granville and Velva where she worked in food service in those areas. She did attend Josef’s School of Hair Design, Minot and later taught and managed there.

She also worked at Choice Hotel Call Center in Minot and Northrop Grumman Corporation in New Town. The last years she was a homemaker.

 Jerilyn married John Baker on  August 8, 1986, in Velva.  

 Jerilyn loved to crochet, read and did anything she could for her grandchildren. She was a former member of Oak Valley Lutheran Church, Velva.  Jerilyn is survived by her husband, John Baker, Minot, with whom she was with for thirty years, sons, Scott O. Heim, Hastings, Fla., Brad L. (Barb) Heim, Bismarck, and Marty N. Heim, Layton, Utah.; seven grandchildren, Kristina A. Heim, Tucker L. Heim, Samantha M. Heim, Kaiden J. Heim, Seth S. Heim, Annabelle M Prevatt and Tyler K. Heim; father, Lenn Elton, Williston, brothers and sisters, Randy D. Elton, Kingman, Ariz. Debbie L. Bolken, Fargo, Gary D. (Sandy) Elton, Gillette, Wyo., Mike G. (Lorna) Elton, New Town, and Mitch A. Elton, Beulah. A number of nieces and nephews also survive her.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Shirley A. Elton, grandparents, Guy and Elanor Judkins and Alfred and Kate Elton.

Funeral services are on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot. Burial is at 2 p.m. at Our Redeemer’s Cemetery rural Keene.

A visitation is from 3-7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot on Monday.

The family prefers memorials.
