Jamestown quarterback Michael Bangs accounted for much of the Blue Jays’ offense.
He finished the game with 140 yards rushing. Bangs also completed 12 of 19 passes for 192 yards.
“Defensively, they made some big plays,” said Williston coach Todd Matthews. “And we missed some tackles.”
After Alex Hanson hit Derek Opperud out from 31 yards to give the Coyotes a 7-0 lead, Jamestown took control of the game. In the second quarter, the Blue Jays scored a pair of second quarter touchdowns to take the lead for good.
Bangs hit Brian Sinner on a 65-yard pass for the first score. He hit Jordan Piatz from 20 yards out on for the second score.
“We hung our heads a little bit and felt bad for ourselves,” Matthews said of the second quarter. “And we couldn’t bounce back.”
For the game, Alex Hanson completed 12 of 22 passes for 192 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions.
The Coyotes were limited to 21 rushing yards.
“They really dominated both sides of the ball,” Matthews said.
Williston’s final score came midway through the final as Hanson hit Opperud from 38 yards out.
Williston (1-2) will return to action Friday with a home game against Grand Forks Red River at 7 p.m.
“We’ve got to go back and keep working hard,” Matthews said.
