Every once in a while, however, there comes a contest that could be a potential bump in the road for a particular team.
The Coyotes faced that possibility squarely in the face prior to Tuesdayâs match at Bishop Ryan.
Behind the play of six returning players from last seasonâs team, the Coyotes erased any hopes of a Bishop Ryan upset early on en route to a 9-0 win.
All nine of Willistonâs wins came in straight sets. Coach Wade Stueve mixed things up a bit for the Coyotes in Tuesdayâs match.
He played Brook McFarlin and Juan Monsalve Wagner together in the doubles No. 2 match. And the experiment paid off as the Williston team cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 win over Bishop Ryanâs Isaac Massey and Adam Burckhard.
âBrook McFarlin and Juan Monsalve Wagner teaming up for the first time was a very impressive showing at No. 2 doubles,â the Williston coach said.
Jordan Nelson, McFarlin, Monsalve Wagoner, Conner Long, Nathan Pepple and Will Ryan all won in singles.
Nelson and Long won in the No. 1 match in doubles, while Pepple and Ryan won in the No. 3 match.
The Williston JV team also picked up a 5-1 win over over Bishop Ryan on Tuesday.
The Coyotes will play host to Mandan onâFriday in their first home match of the season on Friday at 4 p.m.
