A private family funeral is at a later date and interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery.
Ardyce was born in Eureka, S.D., on July 26, 1929, to Emily Herzog and Lester Udell. They lived in Shields, N.D. for 12 years, mother and two daughters.
They moved to Minnesota where Ardyce attended Marshall High in Minneapolis. They then moved to Alexandria, Minn. Ardyce graduated from Alexandria High School in 1948.
Upon graduation, she moved to Williston to visit a friend and accepted a job at American State Bank, making Williston her home. She was united in marriage to Cecil John Volney in Las Vegas and to this union four sons were born-- Greg, Brian, Bruce and Tracy.
Ardyce in her early years was a model. She was involved in many charitable organizations and was a chairwoman for several of them. Ardyce was an avid golfer, loved cooking, gardening, outdoor projects and especially watching her boys participate in sports, rarely missing a game.
In her later years, her youngest son, Tracy, was a wonderful caregiver, allowing her to live at home longer.
Ardyce is survived by her husband of 58 years, Cecil John Volney, Williston; four sons and their families, son, Greg and Rebecca Volney, Casper, Wyo.; son, Brian and Tresa Volney, Godley, Texas and their two daughters, Jessica Scott,Tulsa, Okla, and great-granddaughters Makayla Scott and Abella Scott both of Tulsa, and Trinity Drury, Godley, Texas and a great-granddaughter, Paige Drury, Godley, Texas; son, Bruce and Laura Volney, Casper, Wyo., and their two daughters, Dana Volney, Douglas, Wyo. and Marissa Dresang, Casper, and a great-grandchild on the way and son, Tracy Volney, Williston and his son, Victor Volney, Minneapolis and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Jack Bertoch; mother, Emily Bertoch; her father, Lester Udell and sister, Shirley Smith.
