Clifford Lynner Clifford “Cliff” Leroy Lynner, 71, died Aug. 20, 2009, at the McKenzie County Memorial Hospital of heart failure. His funeral services are at 2 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 24, 2009, at the Watford City Assembly of God Church. The Rev. Sheldon McGorman is officiating and interment is at the Zoar Cemetery. Clifford “Cliff” Leroy Lynner was born Nov. 21, 1937, to Carl and Kate (Shelley) Lynner in Watford City. He was raised in western North Dakota and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1957, where he served as a boiler operator on the USS Alfred A. Cunningham, a destroyer in the Pacific, until his discharge in 1963. After his discharge, he spent some time working on the Minot missile sites, after which time he returned to the Watford City area, where he worked for various businesses as a butcher, carpenter, painter and heavy equipment operator before settling into self employment as a handyman. Following in the footsteps of his father, he was especially known for giving good deals to widows who needed a hand. Cliff and June Haugan were married Dec. 27, 1964, and raised nine children of their own, in addition to taking in foster children. All of the children have a little bit of their father in them. Cliff loved his wife, children and grandchildren and especially enjoyed taking his kids on his handyman jobs and loved to show them off along with his wife, June. He enjoyed reading, playing cards, lively conversation and coffee at the caf© with his friends. Cliff is survived by his wife, June; children Philip (Julie) Lynner, Sioux City, Iowa, Mark (Cathy) Lynner of Sterling, Va., Carman Lynner of Sioux City, Bethany (Jeff) Bierman, Denver, Jessica (Mike) Pederson, Williston, Clifford Lynner II, Sioux City, Greta Lynner, Minot, Christopher Lynner, Monterey, Calif., and Shelley Jo (Anthony) Floreno, Watford City; eight grandchildren, Kimberly, Lexine, Kiersten, Kevin, Phil, Zoe, Joshua and Luke; brothers, Neil Lynner, Bend, Ore., and William (Mary) Lynner, Paso, Wash.; sisters, Audre Clifton, Watford City, Rachel (Jim) Machuta, San Bernardino, Calif.,, Margaret (Don) Sparks, Clio, Mich., and Linda (Bill) Mead, Puyallup, Ore He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Jesse, Jean, and Carl and his grandson, Sam. Friends may call at the Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City on Sunday from 1-7 p.m., on Monday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and an hour prior to services at the church. |
