The former Williston High player and North Dakota State fullback was sending out 10-year-olds for passes while helping out at a youth football camp sponsored by Williston Parks and Recreation.
"It's fun, I remember being a little kid, looking up at the older kids, so as much as I can do to help, it's nice," Jangula said.
Jangula was an NFL hopeful this fall, joining training camp with the New Orleans Saints before a knee injury slowed him down.
He recently had surgery to rebuild his knee, repairing the lateral collateral ligament, posterior collateral ligament and meniscus. The Saints have told him they want him back to try to make the team again next season.
"I must have done pretty well down there," Jangula said. "Because they are keeping me on and told me to come back."
He's back in Williston and has just now begun his rehab. It's a long road back to New Orleans, though, beginning with six-nine months of rehab.
"It's coming along pretty well," Jangula said. "It feels good. I can't do much, yet. Just doing some body-weight squats, doing a little walking. I can't really do much yet, it was a pretty serious surgery."
Jangula caught on with the Saints as a post-draft free agent signing in April after finishing his senior season at NDSU.
At 6-2, 250 lbs., Jangula was a blocking and receiving fullback for the Bison. He caught 14 passes for 165 yards and two touchdowns his senior season, and had seven touchdowns total in his career. Before graduating in 2004, he starred in three sports for Williston. He was a two-time All-WDA football player and an All-State baseball player for the Coyotes, and was a member of a 400-meter relay team that took fourth at the state track tournament.
