Marla Iverson
Funeral services for Marla Iverson, 55, of Tioga, were held Friday, July 24, 2009, at the First Lutheran Church in Tioga. The Rev. Sandra Anderson officiated and interment was in the Trinity Cemetery, south of Tioga.

Marla Iverson was born Aug. 14, 1953, in Ekalaka, Mont., to Bill and Deloris (Waterland) Tiedemann. The family resided in Glendive, Mont. The family moved to Tioga in 1962. Marla completed elementary school and graduated from Tioga High School in 1971. She attended a year at UND. In 1974, Marla moved to Huntington Beach, Calif. She worked as a radio dispatcher and later as a veterinary assistant at Shores Veterinary Clinic. In 1977, Marla moved to Gillette, Wyo., where her family had relocated. She worked at Amax Coal Mine as first as a laborer and then operated a drill on the drilling and blasting crew. Tired of mining, Marla moved to Denver in 1983. She attended Business College and earned her CO Real Estate License. She worked as the assistant manager at the professional Hi-Rise Hudson Bay Centre for Frederick Ross Co.

Marla married Walter Thornberg in 1986. They had two children, Breanna and Ryan. Walter and Marla were divorced in 1989.

Marla relocated to Gillette, Wyo., with her children. She worked at Sunflower Elementary School as secretary to the Special Education Department. In 1998, Marla married Myron Iverson and moved to Tioga. She worked at MAPS for a time and then worked alongside her husband on the family farm.

Marla had many interests in life. She was an avid gardener and loved to read. She thoroughly enjoyed mowing on the lawn tractor and playing with her dogs. She was very creative and took part in several craft fairs. Marla had a unique ability to take items that would have otherwise been discarded and turn them into objects of beauty. However, her husband Myron and their children were the passion of her life. Throughout her months of illness, they, as well as the rest of her family, were her utmost concern. Marla had been involved in numerous Bible studies throughout her life and had a deeply rooted faith. She was so looking forward to entering into the most recent Bible study with friends Donna Haustveit and Laurie Rieniets, and daughter Breanna.

Marla died Monday, July 20, 2009, after a short and courageous battle with cancer.

She was truly loved by everyone who knew her and will be missed terribly.

Marla is survived by her husband, Myron of Tioga; daughter, Breanna Thornberg of Tioga; son, Ryan Thornberg, currently stationed in Camp Pendleton, Calif., with the Marines; stepdaughters, Yvette (Aaron) Kraft, and Yvonne (Jeff) Delzer all of Bismarck, and Jenna Iverson of Brisbane, Australia; mother, Delores Tiedemann of Tioga; sister, Coty (Rick) Johnson of Tioga; brother, Corby (Pat) Tiedemann of Artesia, N.M.; niece, Tori Johnson of Tioga; and nephew, Tyler Johnson of Gillette, Wyo.

Marla was preceded in death by her father Bill Tiedemann.

Fulkerson Funeral Home of Tioga assisted the family with the arrangements.
