Pitching lifts Keybirds to sweep of Fargo

One night after surrendering a late lead to Bismarck in a 16-12 loss to the Governors, the Keybirds’ pitching was lights out Thursday evening en route to a sweep of Fargo in American Legion baseball action at Aafedt Stadium.

Shawn Egge pitched the full seven innings in the opener of Thursday’s twin bill as Williston won 5-2.

Egge also finished with two strikeouts, while walking three.

In the nightcap, Alex Hanson went the distance for the Keybirds, limiting Fargo to six hits in a 9-2 win. Hanson finished with four strikeouts and two walks.

Offensively, Hanson finished the opener 3-for-3 with three runs scored and had a RBI, while Egge was 1-for-2 with two RBIs.

Casey Gardner added a double and a run scored in the opener.

Egge also drove two runs in the nightcap to bring his season total to 44.

Williston (17-12, 6-4) will host Jamestown for a doubleheader on Tuesday, beginning at 4 p.m.
