After Wednesday night, the scoreboard at Grondahl field may need to be checked to see if it is still working.

The Williston Oilers and Bismarck Senators combined to score 60 runs on 60 hits in a doubleheader split in Babe Ruth baseball action.

The Senators won the opening game 17-16. Bismarck scored eight runs over the final two innings to secure the win.

“I was a little disappointed in our intensity on the mound in the first game,” said Williston coach Greg McNary. “We had a chance to earn a good seed in the state tournament by sweeping this team, and we just couldn’t seem to focus on the mound. We left way too many pitches up,”

Brady Lynse was the loser in relief for Williston. The Oilers were led by Kolten Paryzek ,who hit a three-run homer and Jeff Beckman, who had two hits including a home run. Evan Conlin was 2-for-3 with four runs scored while Caleb Turcotte hammered a pair of doubles and knocked in three.

Brandon Hoepfner led the offensive onslaught for Bismarck with a 4-for-5 performance at the plate. He scored three times and knocked in two runs as well. Mike Hausauer drilled a pair of doubles and knocked in four runs.

“We really drove the ball well in this game with two home runs and a total of seven extra base hits,” McNary said.

In the nightcap, Conlin finished 2-for-3 with a double and a home run and knocked in five runs in the three-run win.

“Evan really seems to understand his role as a lead-off hitter. His job is to get on base and score runs. That’s what he does pretty well,” McNary said.

Williston (6-15) will host Glendive on Sunday at 5:30 p.m.
