The Williston Keybirds pounded out 34 hits en route to a doubleheader sweep of the Minot Vistas in Minot.
The  Keybirds finished 16 hits in a 14-5 win in the opener, while pounding out 18 more in a 16-12 victory in the nightcap of the nonconference doubleheader.
In the opener, Williston fell behind the Vistas 4-1, thanks in part to a four-run second inning by Minot. However, the Keybirds bounced back in the fifth with a five-run inning. The inning was sparked by a grand slam by Doug Richter.
Jeff Skadeland also hit a home run in the inning for Williston. Richter came up with a RBI double in the sixth as part of a three-run inning.
Williston put the game away with a four-run seventh, which included a two-run double by Alex Hanson.
Shawn Egge added a home run in the Game 1 victory for Williston.
Skadeland finished the game 4-for-4 at the plate.
Jon Westphal pitched the final 5 2/3 innings to earn the win for Williston. He allowed one run on one hit, striking out two and walking eight.
Westphal came on in relief of Eric Olson, who gave up all four runs in the second. He pitched 1 1/3 innings and allowed four hits with the four runs.
In the nightcap, the Keybirds scored in every inning, but the third en route to holding off Minot in a wild, high-scoring game.
Williston scored eight runs in the first two innings, including a two-run home run by Egge in the second. It was Egge’s 10th home run of the season.
The Keybirds also added two runs in the fourth, three more in the fifth and two in the sixth.
The two runs in the sixth came around to score as Skadeland reached base on an error.
Hanson rounded out the Williston scoring with an RBI single in the seventh.
Williston used five different pitchers to come up with the win in the nightcap.
Egge pitched 1 2/3 innings in relief to pick up the win. He allowed one hit, struck out two and walked two.
Hanson got the final out of the game to record the save.
Richter and Skadeland scored four runs in the win for Williston.
The Keybirds (15-10) will host Bismarck this evening at Aafedt Stadium at 5:30 p.m. Williston will also host Fargo on Thursday.
