A split of a twin bill

GLENDIVE, Mont. — The Williston Oilers returned to action Monday evening with a doubleheader at Glendive, Mont.

After dropping the first game 8-6, the Oilers bounced back with a 10-6 win in the nightcap.

“We came out and played errorless ball in the nightcap,” said Williston coach Greg McNary. “I couldn’t be more pleased with the way the guys bounced back,”

Williston had committed 12 miscues in the opening game en route to the two-run loss.

In the opener, Glendive scored three runs in the first, two more each in the second and fourth innings.

Chris Barke suffered the loss for Williston in the opener. He allowed two earned runs, while giving up seven hits in pitching the complete game.

“Chris really made some big pitches when he had to and that really kept us in the game,” McNary said. “He asked if he could pitch the second game as well because he felt so strong. It was really unfortunate that we didn’t play better defense behind him, but it was just a lack of concentration. We dropped numerous routine pop flies, and had enough other fielding (problems) to go around. It certainly wasn’t just one guy who was struggling with the glove tonight,”

In the nightcap, Evan Conlin walked three times and scored a run. Tucker Overland had three hits and four stolen bases. Kolten Paryzek also had three hits with three runs scored and one RBI.

“Paryzek continues to hit the ball right on the nose,” McNary said. “He hit three line shots for hits tonight.”

Williston will host Bismarck on Wednesday afternoon.
