Two separate burglaries were committed in close proximity to each other Friday night in Williston and a vehicle was stolen nearby. The incident involving the stolen vehicle may be connected with one of the break-ins.

A burglary was reported at the office of BNSF Railway Saturday. Sometime between 6 p.m. on Friday and 7:15 a.m. on Saturday someone broke a window at the railway offices at 1 South Main Street. The office was entered and stole a laptop computer and a generator. The estimated cost of the window was $200 and the stolen items were valued at $2,200.

That same evening, a 2007 Freightliner owned by BNSF Railway valued at $50,000 was stolen from the parking lot. The vehicle was recovered later in the weekend in Oberlin, Kan.

The truck was recovered when police in Kansas arrested the driver in connection with a drive-off at a gas station and the truck was discovered to have been stolen. The man, whose name wasn’t released, is being held on misdemeanor charges relating to the drive-off. The incident is still under investigation.

A burglary was also committed at the Williston Police Department’s pistol range Friday evening. The range is located near the railroad tracks and someone broke a window and entered the range Friday evening and damaged some locks and a CD player. The estimated damages were $500.

" Williston has sure been through a rough time with all the vandalism and robberies. I hope when they find out who the judge gives them more than a slap on the hand and probation. Kids think the court is a laughing stock. Get tougher and they will learn. "
