Installation service is Sunday

The Rev. Richard Shields, president of the American Lutheran Theological Seminary, Ft. Wayne, Ind., is joining the Light of Christ Lutheran Church in Williston this Sunday, June 28, 2009, for worship.

Rev. Shields is giving the Gospel message during the 9:30 a.m. worship service.

He then is officiating at the special installation service of the Rev. Gary Benson, the new pastor of Light of Christ Lutheran Church, at 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Rev. Shields is also the director of Pastoral Forman and Congregational Development for the American Association of Lutheran Churches. Along with his duties as president of the seminary, he is responsible for the seminary’s eduction of future pastors, as well as the continuing eduction of its current clergy.

He oversees the Leadership and Mission Development of the churches that create the association of Lutheran churches in the United States. The public is invited to join the congregation at the morning service and then again to celebrate Rev. Benson’s installation.
