David Halvorson

David Halvorson, 67, Williston, died peacefully at his home on Thursday, June 25, 2009. No services are planned at this time.

David Helmer Halvorson was born Feb. 13, 1942, to Helmer and Audrey Halvorson at Devils Lake. He was raised and educated in the Devils Lake area and graduated from Devils Lake High School in 1960.

Upon graduation, David continued to work on the family farm with his father. On June 6, 1964, he was united in marriage to Sharon Magnuson at Churchs Ferry. They continued farming until 1988, when they moved to Mandan, where they resided for a short time before moving to Williston in 1989.

David worked in maintenance at MacDonald’s and maintenance and receiving at True Value Hardware and he was currently retired. David was at his happiest when telling stories to family and friends. He loved to go fishing and enjoyed gardening and working in the yard. He was always a farmer at heart.

He treasured his family and will be missed by each one of them.

David is survived by his wife, Sharon, Williston; sons, Keith (Sharlo) Halvorson, Williston and Richard (Indra) Halvorson of Minneapolis; grandchildren, Lexi Halvorson and Kaija Halvorson; brothers, Richard (Dorothy) Halvorson, Jamestown, and Roger (Patty) Halverson of Port Orchard, Wash.; sisters, Marian Kurtz, Devils Lake, Vivian (Wally) Peterson, Belfair, Wash., Lois (Gene) LaBissoniere, Minneapolis and Sandra (Bill) Bartle of Leeds and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; numerous aunts and uncles; two nephews and several cousins.

Fulkerson Funeral Home, Williston is assisting the family with arrangements.

    " Although it has been many years since I worked & spent time with Dave, I will never forget his sincere kindness, infectious laugh, and willingness to give a helping hand or ride. He was one of those few exceptional people in life that really make a differnce, make you smile each time you see or think of them, and a person you want to emulate. He will be greatly missed. "

    " I had the pleasure of working with David at True Value.He was always friendly,cheerful and had a great sense of humor any time I met him.In spite of medical problems, he always had a positive attitude towards life and people.He will surely be missed. "
