Three area football players are spending the week in Medora working their way up to the Badlands Bowl all-star football game Saturday at 7 p.m.

Williston's John Oyloe, Williams County's Tyler Lalim and Watford City's Justin Flatland each made team North Dakota in the N.D. vs. Montana matchup.

"Since I've been coaching, this is the first kid we've had go to the Mon-Dak game," said Williams County coach Tim Schaffer. "It's quite a feat for Tyler."

Lalim quarterbacked Williams County to the state title game in 9-man football last season.

"He's a great, great kid," Schaffer said. "He's a very coachable young man and a very big competitor, and he did a lot for us this year on the offensive and defensive side of the ball." Williston High head football coach Todd Matthews is helping coach the North Dakota team and has been watching the work this week.

"So far, we've just been going through some practicies and just trying to put kids in the right spots, sizing up what we have for offense and defense," Matthews said.

Oyloe will be playing defensive line for Team North Dakota, and Flatland has been working at tight end.

"It's always a nice thing to have for the Knights of Columbus, and it gives these kids a little exposure and promotes football throughout the state of North Dakota," Matthews said.

Montana won last year's game, and the teams have split four since an eight-game Montana win streak ended in 2005. The all-time standings are North Dakota 4, Montana 11.

The game will be broadcast online at http://www.kdix.net
