Beulah Chitwood

Beulah (Jurges) Chitwood, 96, formerly of Williston, passed away April 30, 2009, at her home at Crista Shores Assisted Living in Silverdale, Wash. A memorial service was held May 9, 2009, at Silverdale.

Beulah was born on Sept. 27, 1912, in Hopkins, Mo., to Cyrus and Maude Ethel Morehouse. She graduated from Omak (Wash.) High School as president of her senior class and received her nursing degree from Seattle General Hospital Nursing School in Seattle in 1935.

She married Fred Jurges in 1938 and had two sons.

She was united in marriage to Robert Chitwood of Alexander in Mesa. Ariz., in 1982, spending summers in North Dakota and winters in Arizona. They enjoyed square dancing and traveling in their RV. After Robert died in 2002, Beulah moved back to the northwest to be near her two sons and their families.

Beulah is survived by her sons, Glen (Marialis) Jurges of Bremerton, Wash., and Charles (Sherry) Jurges of Bellingham, Wash.; five grandchildren; and the families of Robert’s: daughters, Sharon Bratcher, Alexander, Diane Netter, Aloha, Ore., and Judy Chitwood, Puyallup, Wash.; sons-in-law, Lyle Bratcher, Alexander and Delbert Johnson, Beaverton, Ore.; sisters-in-law, Bernice Chitwood, Spokane, Wash., and Myrtle (Harlyn) Oppeboen, Colorado Springs, Colo.; grandchildren, Taffy Lynn Johnson, Stacy Johnson, Kimberly Pierce, Jill Sjoerdsma, Troy Bratcher and Rick Netter. She also has numerous great-grandchildren from both families. She was preceded in death by her brother, George Morehouse; sister, Zula Danielson; husband, Robert Chitwood; stepdaughter, Beverly Johnson and stepson Gary Chitwood.
