Selmer Pladson, 92, a longtime Wildrose resident, passed away Monday, March 16, 2009, at Trinity Medical Center, Minot.

His funeral will be celebrated Friday, March 20, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, Wildrose. Pastoral assistant Kathy Paulson will officiate and interment will follow in Wildrose Cemetery.

Selmer Pladson was born July 30, 1916, at Noonan. He was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Jacob and Anna Pladson in December 1916 and was raised on a farm south of Wildrose, the same farm that Selmer’s son, Tim, farms today. He attended a country school about a mile from the farm.

In 1955, he married Ruth Akre. They had one son, Timothy. Ruth passed away in the summer of 1976.

Selmer married Edyth Salveson on Sept. 30, 1978, at Grace Lutheran Church. During his many working years, Selmer farmed, eventually retiring in the mid 1980’s. Selmer’s talent in music was well known in the area. He was a self-taught musician and played guitar in the Noonan, Crosby and Tioga nursing homes. He also played at the Kensington while he was still able.

He liked to tinker with gadgets and even made a few of his own. He also was very fond of his cat, Tigey.

Selmer is survived by his wife, Edyth, and his son, Tim Pladson, both of Wildrose; stepson, James R. and Faye Salveson of Wildrose and their children, Teresa Ackerson of Dallas, Texas, Timothy James of Las Vegas and Mandi Salveson of Bismarck; one stepdaughter, Ione and Bob Oskay of Downey, Calif.; a half-sister, Joyce Meyer of Grand Rapids, Mich.; and half brothers, Harold Carlson and Norman Carlson of Minnesota

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, and his parents.
