Charles Loveless

Published/Last Modified on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 10:36 AM CDT

Charles Raymond Loveless (Charlie) was born at Ramey AFB in Puerto Rico on March 19, 1954.

He grew up and attended school in Billings, with the last two years of high school in Williston. He spent several years in Wyoming, Montana, California and on the North Slope of Alaska working in the oil fields.

Charlie drove truck for a number of years, both long haul and local, and resided for 12 years in the Florence and Nine Mile areas near Missoula, Mont. He last worked for his friend Don at Vizina Construction in Williston.

Charlie loved to be in the outdoors and work on vehicles. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and always had a well-mannered dog at his side.

Charlie was dedicated to his family and friends, and was well liked by all who knew him. He was a person of character, a straight-shooter, intelligent, honest, meticulous and considerate. Even in his last hours, he didn’t want to “put anybody out.” They just don’t make them like Charlie any more.

Charlie passed away on March 7, 2009, in Seattle, Wash. He will be greatly missed.

Charlie is survived by his mother, Donna J. Steiber; father, Robert S. Loveless Sr (Sharon); siblings, Robert S. Loveless Jr (Linda), Douglas M. Loveless, Donald S. Loveless (Denise), Susan M. Gentry (George), Brian A. Loveless (Renee), Brenda L. Mahlen (Syvert), Jeffrey P. Loveless (Sheila), Amy E. Loveless, Julynne L. Ward (Irv), Jaymes R. Steiber and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, long-term friends and his dog Kelly. Charlie was preceded in death by his grandparents; nephew, Joseph Loveless; stepfather, Richard L. Steiber, and pal Don Vizina.

Cremation has taken place. Charlie requested there will be no funeral services.

Charlie’s family will hold a Celebration of Charlie’s life on Saturday, May 23, at 2 p.m. at the Bighorn Center at the Holiday Inn on Midland Road in Billings.
